Does Anyone Feel Like Kasumi Was Out Of Place In PR5?
I just finished watching a play through of PR5, and I wanted to know if anyone else felt the same way. This discussion might be irrelevant since Royal came out a while ago, but here we go. When I was watching a play through of PR5, I couldn't help but think Kasumi felt out of place during PR5 despite her being boasted to be an extremely prominent character in the game. Like Kasumi felt artificial in a sense (If any of you understand that-). 1 - Shoehorn To make up for a lack of screen time for Kasumi, they shoehorned her into a bunch of scenes. (The casino, school, festival, etc.) The casino is a good example of Kasumi's shoehorning. In vanilla P5, Joker and the rest of the gang doesn't need saving from Kasumi, and are fully capable. But when I saw this scene in PR5, it felt un natural since I had already seen the scene without Kasumi in it. Joker has been proven to be strong and capable, so why does he need some help from a girl who barely knows how to use her persona? It doesn't feel like a cool badass scene, it just feels like a forced shoehorn. 2 - Lack of interaction with other characters This is pretty well known, but Kasumi has VERY little interaction with the other Phantom Thieves. The only characters she really interacts with are Akechi and Joker. I'm counting Akechi because she's forced to work with him in the third semester, but even then her interactions are limited. Throughout the game, Kasumi only talks to Joker. I get this is done to give them a "two sides of the same coin" kind of vibe because they're both social outcasts, but the majority of the Phantom Thieves are outcasts too. Ann is left in the dust because of her being different, Ryuji has basically no friends in the beginning because of what happened with the track team. Not to mention Makoto is treated like a control freak tyrant. Hell, you could even argue Haru is an outcast. What's wrong with them, why does Kasumi only hang out with Joker? I know I'm going off on a whim on this part, but near end game the crew starts praising Kasumi endlessly despite barely knowing her. It feels so weird to have this character who is endlessly adored and cared about by people they barely know. It's a good reason why she feels out of place, because all her relationships feel forced. 3 - Persona 4 Theming (This part contains spoilers, beware!!) It's pretty well known that the theme of PR5 and P5 is rebellion, but Sumire just can't to seem to fit into this theme. The theme of Persona 4 however, lines up perfectly with Sumire. Sumire has to accept that she's not Kasumi, and face herself. From my standpoint, Sumire isn't really rebelling against anything. You could argue that she's rebelling against herself or Maruki, but that kind of seems like a stretch to me. Anyways, that's it. Feel free to critique me in the comments, if you'd like. I'm still new to the Persona fandom, after all.

How fucked up is that? They somehow figured out how to safely operate casinos and strip clubs but can't open public schools at any capacity? They don't even have a timeline for when schools will be open. Distance learning is an utter disaster. Low income students don't have internet connection or parental supervision during the day so they just don't go to school. I just find it absolutely ridiculous that casinos and strip clubs are operating while schools are completely closed. Clown world continues to amaze me. Edit: appreciate this community for it's hands-off moderation. I tried posting this in lockdownskepticism and they removed it and told me to post my opinion in the mega thread. Appreciate all the real ones out there as well, stay strong.
